As the break goes on, it seems that the Formula 1 news has been fairly dry. During the break, I’ve been covering various drivers past and present, such as Daniel Ricciardo and Jules Bianchi. Since the break lasts for one more week, I thought I’d start doing a “get to know the drivers” segment, starting with Max Verstappen.

Verstappen has been in Formula 1 since 2015, when he started out on Red Bull’s junior team, Toro Rosso. His teammate was Carlos Sainz at that time, who currently drives for Ferrari. Since then, Verstappen has really made a name for himself. After replacing Daniil Kvyat in Red Bull’s main team, he’s never looked back. While it took him a bit to win a world championship, he currently has three under his belt.

Verstappen has won the 2021, 2022 and 2023 championships, and he is currently slated to win 2024 as well. However, Lando Norris (McLaren) might beat him to the punch this time.

Since he has been the most dominant driver in the past few years, Verstappen has gained a reputation for being a meaner driver than he actually is. He’s honestly one of the nicest, most mature drivers on the grid.

Verstappen has two cats named Jimmy and Sassy, which may surprise some due to his bad rap. He also does SimRacing in addition to his pursuits in Formula 1. Verstappen lives in Monaco, like many other drivers do as well.

One of the funny things about Formula 1 is that sometimes there will be songs made about the drivers. Verstappen has 2 songs written about him, Super Max by Pitstop Boys and 33 Max Verstappen by Carte Blanq and Maxx Power. Both songs have very different vibes, the first being more upbeat and the other feeling more techno.

Overall, Max Verstappen is a great guy and a great driver, and I am rooting for him next week at the Austin Grand Prix!
