Interior of the Martin Commons

The long-awaited opening of the Lottie dining addition has finally arrived!

The Martin Commons officially opened this morning to students and faculty of the College. Even though construction on the outdoor spaces continues, the interior commons now offers additional seating and a new area for students to spend their time. It also provides a new space for the College to host open house guests and prospective students.

Students and faculty who were in attendance of the event were offered an assortment of coffee and pastries as they viewed the space. President Kim Phipps also made a special appearance.

“It’s a great place for us to continue hospitality,” says Messiah’s Vice President of Operations, Kathie Shafer. “I’m just excited that students have an additional dining space that’s beautiful and can give them a place to enjoy some downtime in between classes. It’s going to be a great place for the college to entertain guests and show everyone what we’re about.”

The outdoor construction surrounding the addition is set to be finished in the coming month. Once it is completed, the addition’s large glass windows will provide students with a view of the landscaped patio area as they sit in the dining room.

See it for yourself! Be sure to stop by Lottie today to view the official opening of the Martin Commons!
