What can a Christian do when they doubt the faith they’ve trusted for years? How can a college student begin to answer big questions that attack them in their time of independence? Do resources exist that actually understand these struggles?

These are the questions that first-year students Vinh Le and Scott Beaver began asking during the startup of their website called Against Doubt. Le, who has always enjoyed computer science and website creation, told Beaver he wanted to create a website that would make a difference.

Le says, “Essentially, I have always enjoyed creating websites and working with computers, and it was my intention before coming to college to begin a startup that would make an impact on people.”

After a year of his own journey of doubt, Le decided that his personal experience could serve as an effective springboard toward creating his dream website. He began writing blog posts about his journey at the end of January, discussing difficult questions that he had combatted with intellectual and philosophical explanations. Still, Le wanted to further this outreach, so he connected with Beaver and the dream took shape as they created a website. Thus, a month of website design resulted in their final project: AgainstDoubt.com.

Against Doubt began campaigning around campus with anonymous posters and chalk drawings. Le recalls, “Scott came up with the idea of campaigning for the website using mysterious Christian fish symbols and posters all around campus. Thus, Against Doubt had a new brand name: ‘AD.’”

Within a month of the campaign, the website gained over 100 email subscribers and thousands of website visits; it has also gained momentum with its striking intellectual discussion and real problem confrontation.

With a goal of 1000 email subscribers in May 2016, Against Doubt and its staff hope to gain an even wider audience base. In the near future, Le and Beaver hope to bring Against Doubt to local churches and universities to help more Christians quench the pesky doubt that lingers in their lives.

As their website states, “In a time of doubt, discouragement, and uncertainty about the state of the world, our primary goal with Against Doubt is to offer an intellectual resource for Christians and non-Christians alike. 1 Peter 3:15 (says) ‘But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.’”
