oWith classes, responsibilities and projects to work on outside of class, the desire for many students to kick back and relax is strong (#thestruggleisreal). Although Messiah’s campus is a close-knit and comfortable environment, a temporary getaway sounds great, especially if it is off campus.

Emily Price, a senior Christian ministries major, suggests Tropical Smoothie Cafe where there is a relaxing environment and a vacation ambiance because the Cafe is filled with tiki umbrellas and palm trees. She recommends getting the delicious smoothies, wraps and sandwiches.

“I like the sunrise sunset smoothie and the Thai chicken wrap,” she says.

Some students prefer being “one” with the books, up close and personal with literature. Elizabeth Barnes, a senior biopsychology major, likes hanging at Midtown Scholar.

“I like the relaxed atmosphere, and the space it has for doing homework,” she says.ppc-b-hero1-643x253

Midtown Scholar also has a wide variety of warm beverages, which go together with homework and school activities. Among Barnes’ favorite drinks to get at the bookstore is the chai latte.

If you’re looking for a more formal setting, Stephanie Herrarte, a senior international business major, enjoys going to Sakura Japanese cuisine during birthdays, or any other special events. Herrarte recommends getting the bubble tea that comes in a nice assortment. Her usual would be the chicken hibachi.

For a more adventurous option, Herrarte also suggests Prince Street Cafe in Lancaster, as the place has a cozy atmosphere. And for the coffee lovers at Messiah, Prince Street Cafe has “really good coffee” according to Herrarte.
