It’s hard to believe that we only have one full week of classes left in the semester. All of the hard work we’ve put in since the beginning of the semester is about to pay off – especially for graduating seniors. With finals on the horizon, it’s easy to stay cooped up in your room, so here’s what you may have missed:

Friday, April 20 – Jazz Ensemble Concert

JazzONE and JazzTWO put on a special performance Friday night. In addition to student performers, Joey Tartell, an associate professor of trumpet and the director of undergraduate studies at Indian University’s Jacobs School of Music, joined Messiah students on the stage.

Friday, April 20 & Saturday, April 21 – Dance Shows

Messiah’s dance ensembles, Footprintz and Acclamation, performed on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Audience members packed into Brubaker on Friday night as Footprintz, Messiah’s hip-hop ensemble, took the stage. Members of Acclamation performed in two shows on Saturday, featuring different dance styles such as modern, ballet, tap, jazz and musical theater.

Sunday, April 22 – Splice Film Festival

Parmer Cinema filled up Sunday afternoon to view students’ independent films. The event featured 16 original films, which spanned over multiple different genres, including fiction, experimental and documentary.

Beyond Messiah

Prince Harry was bumped to sixth in line to the throne on Monday morning when Kate Middleton gave birth to a third child. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed Prince Louis of Cambridge at St. Mary’s Hospital in London.

French President Emmanuel Macron visited D.C. this week for Trump’s first state visit. The visit started off well as many news outlets are calling the relationship between Trump and Macron a “bromance.” Macron ended his stay by addressing Congress and denouncing many of Trump’s implementations. He warned against nationalism and isolationism, and he said that he believes the U.S. will join the Paris Agreement again soon.
