Ethan Van Bochoven passed away Friday night in a multi-car collision. Van Bochoven was one of three deaths to result from the accident on I-83 Friday evening at 8:30pm, according to PennLive.

Six other individuals were injured in the collision, which was caused by a tractor trailer driver later found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Van Bochoven was a senior at Messiah College, set to graduate in 2019 with a degree in music. According to a statement by Messiah College Vice Provost/Dean of Students Kris Hansen-Kieffer, “he was active in the Messiah College worship community, serving in the Powerhouse Band and as a member of the Messiah College Symphony Orchestra. He also served as the manager of the men’s lacrosse team for two years.”

A prayer service will be held in honor of Van Bochoven tonight in Parmer Hall for all students and staff to attend. The service will be held from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Campus pastors and counselors will be available throughout tomorrow’s service and during the upcoming week for students who would like to talk.

Details regarding a funeral service for Van Bochoven will be released by Messiah College once they are confirmed.
