The First-Year students of 2019 arrived on campus on Friday and began settling into their new rooms. As everyone worked on unpacking, we asked them to respond to a series of randomly selected questions. Here’s some of what the Class of 2023 had to say.
What was the weirdest experience you had this summer?
Delaney Reed
“I’m a lifeguard at a waterpark, and I had a grown man pretend to drown and try to get me to save him.”
What’s a random thing you carry with you all the time?
Brooke Seaburg
“Probably mints.”
Hannah Carns
“I’m always like a grandma. I always carry those little mint candies. I’ll always have a peppermint or some sort of lozenge in case anybody wants to ask me how old of a soul I am.”
If you were a color, what would you be and why?
Nick Minich
“I would probably pick yellow because it’s a happy color and I always try to be happy.”
What is the dorkiest or nerdiest thing you enjoy?
Matthew Eells
“I like really long, deep conversations about music theory. I’m not a music major, I just really enjoy music.”
What’s are you least looking forward to this semester?
Sarah Nagengast
“8 A.M. classes.”
Maria Stoltzfus
“Probably just the stress of figuring out my routine and how to do things.”
If you could see any artists play on campus, who would you want?
Ethan Miller
“August Burns Red.”
Josiah Provan
“I really like Mumford & Sons, but I don’t think there’s any chance of getting them to come here. I really like Rend Collective as well.”
