Matt Simme is a senior film major who’s tattoos not only make him happy, but others as well. He’s found that his tattoo has even gotten people to start singing, and that makes him very happy. This is what he shared about his tattoos.

So, what tattoos do you have?

“I have two tattoos. One is a fox on my ankle, and the other one says Hakuna Matata on my forearm.

What do your tattoos mean?

“Most people know I’m a pretty laid back and easy-going person, but I do deal with anxiety. My Hakuna Matata tattoo reminds me not to worry -that life will be okay and everything will keep on going.  With my fox tattoo, it’s my favorite animal that’s designed to look like an abstract sketch, and this reminds me that things don’t need to be perfect to be beautiful.”

What inspired you to get tattoos in the first place?

“A few people in my extended family have tattoos, and I’ve just always loved the look of them.”

What is your favorite aspect of your unique tattoos?

“I find that people will hum or even sing Hakuna Matata from “The Lion King” after looking at my tattoo, and that always makes my day!”

What is your advice to someone who is thinking of getting a tattoo for the first time?

“Make sure you like the design of the tattoo and the meaning of it beyond that moment in time. Think of something that captures your whole being because it becomes a part of you for a long time.”
