To kick off the start of November and prepare for the countdown to Thanksgiving break, here are this week’s recommendations for some geeky, stress-free activities!
Read Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
In the year 2044, the Earth is a wasteland, and the main way people interact is through the OASIS, a virtual reality utopia. Wade Watts is one of many who finds a home in the OASIS, and he spends his days searching for clues and attempting to solve puzzles left behind but the game’s creator. Partly a sci-fi adventure, partly 1980s nostalgia, Ready Player One is certainly an exciting ride!
Watch Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Twenty-something Scott Pilgrim is living a normal life, but it hasn’t amounted to much. When he meets Ramona Flowers, he thinks he’s found the girl of his dreams, but what Scott doesn’t expect is for Ramona’s “Seven Evil Exes” to appear and fight him for the right to date Ramona. A high-energy romantic comedy, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is filled with colorful characters, catchy music, and totally geeky references.
Watch Psych
After calling in tips to the local police station, Shawn Spencer becomes a suspect due to his uncanny ability to notice details in crime scenes. In order to maintain his reputation, Shawn claims to be a psychic. He starts his own detective agency with his best friend Gus, and the two begin a journey of solving crimes, no matter how normal or how strange. If you’re looking for a good laugh, Psych is the show for you.
Listen to “Evil Genius” by Eleventyseven
Eleventyseven’s electro-pop music is great for lifting your spirits on a stressful day. “Evil Genius” is just the right mix of energetic, fun, and goofy that will make want to laugh and dance. After all, have you ever heard a love song from someone who’s secretly a mad scientist?
Play Some Video Games
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed today, set aside some time to enjoy your favorite game, no matter what it is. If you’re not much of a gamer, look online or on your phone for some free games! There’s a lot out there, so there is sure to be something that interests you.
